Crate training

My Gf and I were blessed with a 3 month old dachshund. We have struggled a bit to get him crate trained. I am curious if there are tips or suggestions for this issue. I am also wondering if the crate type and size has a lot to do with the issue.

Other than crate training he has been the perfect pup. I raised a lab puppy by myself and he crate trained really quick. I appreciate any words of advice!
