Are we reaching the brave new world?
Is this true for society? Sooner or later, philosophy must shift from seeking a ghost in the machine to studying the machine itself. Under physicalism, the soul is revealed as a "strange loop"—an architectural byproduct of 86 billion neurons. Physicalism logically leads us to the conclusion that we are not authors of our lives but passive observers of decisions the brain initiated before notifying "us."
Abandoning the soul and free will moves society from retribution to rehabilitation, treating criminals as ill individuals rather than evil agents. We replace social toxicity with empathy, recognizing that success and failure are merely biological and environmental luck.
Personally, we will be liberated from self-blame and regret, viewing happiness as a unique neurochemical configuration rather than a universal recipe. By removing the red-colored glasses of human exceptionalism, we will replace mystery with pure logic and the perfection of mathematics.
