Review: Lip oils (Iced Lemonade, Strawberry Glaze and Confetti Cake Pop)
I thought I'd write up a quick review for these lip oils in case anyone was on the fence about getting them during today's sale. I hope you find it helpful!
Packaging: The packaging for these lip oils is sturdy - nice, thick plastic tubes and a fat doe foot wand. The tubes click shut soundly and its oddly satisfying. Each scent comes with its own little charm attached that can be removed if you so desire. Iced Lemonade's charm is a daisy, Strawberry Glaze has a strawberry, and Confetti Cake Pop has a pink bow. The charms seem well made and are really cute. Personally, though, I'll probably take them off and repurpose them, because im not fond of the constant 'clack clack clack' sound they make as they smack against the tube. The tube has a ring at the top so it can be attached to your keys, bag, backpack, etc.
Value: These normally go for 14.95, and that is absurd considering how small these are (2.5 grams). Definitely wait for a lip sale! The sale price of 3.95 is more than fair, however.
Review: Iced Lemonade smells like Lemon Head candies if youre familiar with those. Its slightly tart and refreshing.
Strawberry Glaze smells like Twizzlers. Fake strawberry, but in a good way.
Confetti Cake Pop smells softly of vanilla frosting. Its a delicious scent, but sadly the weakest of the three.
This is what I'd consider a "true" lip oil. A lot of companies just slap the label of lip oil on any lip product they come out with because lip oils are hot right now, but this time its appropriate. The formula is on the slightly thin side, and has that oily glide and slip that differentiates lip oils from lip glosses. This isnt as shiny as most oils I've used though - its more of a soft sheen or glow, so if youre lookong for something blingy, youll be disappointed. All 3 flavors are clear.
These lasted about an hour before they started to fade away, which for a thinner formula feels about average to me.
These left my lips in good shape - my lines look a bit filled in and smoother than normal. In my opinion, this makes these oils a great prep step for lipstick. Just swipe the oil on and let it soak in while you do your makeup, then blot away the excess and come in with your lip color.
Am I absolutely blown away by this product? Admittedly, no. Its moisturizing powers are good, not great. These perfectly serviceable, though, and im glad I have them. The true appeal of these is their convenience - because of the unique packaging, they can attach to anything you'll likely carry with you on a day to day basis.
All in all, these are decent enough. A fun little treat to indulge in at the sale price.
These get a Moonrose score of 6 out of 10.
