What thinkpad to buy?

I’m looking for a laptop with battery life being my biggest want, but I still want somewhat decent specs. I’m planning to use it for school(electrical engineering). My budget is around $1000-$1500. I’m going to be putting Linux on it which is why I’m not going with a MacBook.

I was thinking p1 or p14 gen 6, but this seems it may be overkill.

I just wanted some guidance from others on what would be most suitable.
