US Mini-Game Players

At what position of players does it go from just needing to play for the entire event to actually needing to win a majority of your matches

I’ve only ever really gone for top 1500 because I never normally have the dedication to play for 2hrs straight but I have today off and might give fishing a go, so can I reasonably get into the top 500 or is top 500 decently competitive
