"The people who take this survey are representative of the population of Boston in terms of age, gender, race+ethnicity, income, and neighborhood"

when asked “Would you support building separated bike lanes **even if some space for driving or parking needs to be removed**?” More people support it than oppose (45%-34%) more people also strongly support than oppose them (23%-20%) and significantly more people somewhat support than somewhat oppose (21.5%-13.2%)

Strong support for bike lanes if parking/ driving space is removed is highest in the Asian community at 26%, but the most overall support is highest among Latinos (52%). The breakdown of support racially is 49% support 23% oppose among Asians, 52% support to 29% oppose among Latinos, 41% to 31% in the Black community, and 49- 34% among whites. This does means that bike lanes are popular among all racial groups, despite what some people try to claim. White people are most likely to strongly oppose at 22% (9% for Asian, 13% for Latino, and 16% for Black).

The age demographics show the biggest differences. 18-34 year olds support 52%-22% opposed with 27% strong support. among 35-54 year olds support is 47%-34%. But over 55 support is 26-58 with 42% strongly opposed. We really are being held hostage on this by retirees with the time to attend the meetings. We need to do a better job making biking accessible to older people too.

There is also strong support for the Blue hill ave project 60-15.

The city had to hide this data to justify the heel turn as even vaguely popular. What the city is doing right now is not what the people want. It is what Josh Kraft, Jay Cashman, and other old rich white people want.

The hidden slide deck your tax dollars funded but your government hid until it was published by Streetsblog: "City of Boston 2025 Community Survey"
