NCL Jade - Alaska train canceled

Hi folks, going on an Alaskan cruise this August on the Jade, leaving Anchorage/Whittier. A few months ago we booked the excursion through NCL to get on the train from Anchorage to the port in Whittier.

This afternoon we got a notice that it was canceled.

Anyone know why?

Also, anyone have advice on how to get to the port from Anchorage now? We're flying in about two days early but we were relying on this train.
