Considerations for storing largish quantities of kiln dried lumber in a basement
Hey folks,
I’m looking to get some extra opinions before I move forward. I’m prepping to buy ~2,000 bf of kiln dried lumber which I plan to store in an unfinished basement in the North East, US. The basement is not climate controlled but actively dehumidified and never goes above 45-55% relative humidity. It’s a fairly clean and actively used space so not many bugs/spiders…
Outside of stacking and stickering it, and maintaining the humidity, are there other factors I should be considering? I want to make sure I’m not overlooking anything major before proceeding.
I’d expect some of it to sit for a few years before I got around to using it all. Cheers!
