Poem about sleeping with someone new while your still healing
I didn’t mean to make you
feel like a mistake
when it was never you
I was unsure about.
It was me
standing in the middle of something unfinished,
holding onto a love
that hasn’t quite let go of me.
And still, I reached for you.
Not out of emptiness,
but out of softness,
out of wanting to feel close to something real
even if I wasn’t whole enough to hold it right.
You deserved clarity,
not someone half-present,
not someone whose heart
is still echoing another name.
And I can imagine
how it must feel
to be touched by someone
who later questions the moment.
But please know
you were never something to regret,
just something I wasn’t ready
to fully deserve.
I’m sorry
for the confusion I carried into you,
for the warmth I gave
without the certainty to protect it.
If anything,
you were real
and I’m the one
still trying to become that.
