How many puzzles are after Priscus the Ancient?

Killed the dude, wrnt through the portal and now it seems I'm in never ending puzzles that just award abyss artifacts. Is there an end to this line of puzzles or is it just a near endless run to give you a way to farm up the artifacts? I'm on the Lopp of Life and just want to go back to exploring.
