Like, I know that the series isn't perfect, nor as good as other well-known analog horror series, but I think acting as if Urbanspook is one of the main reasons that analog horror is "dying" is a gross oversimplification as to why the genre is in such a dire situation.

As someone who has been a huge analog horror fan with very deep knowledge of the genre for years, I will happily tell you that the analog horror genre was already starting its decline way before The Painter even appeared. It was not apparent at first, but it soon became clearer as time went on.

I won't get into it too much, but it's funny how critics of The Painter act like its the Mein Kampf of analog horror, when, outside of being edgy, it's no different than all the other series on YouTube. (It just doesn't pull its punches)

Seriously, these people want to act like The Painter was what led the analog horror genre to become bad, or how it sets a "dangerous precedent," then they need to also talk about the several FNAF VHS videos that popped up in the early 2020s that were ripping off Squimpus' work (before the controversy), the endless amount of Local58 copycats back in the day, or (don't even get me started) the long-lasting damage that Mandela Catalogue did to the genre as a whole.

Videos like these are why I often ignore any criticism coming Urbanspook's way. Sure, the guy has his flaws, but I swear to fucking god that nearly most videos about him just blow things out of proportion and almost come off as having been made with malicious intent.

Tl;dr - I'm tired of Urbanspook being brought up as this "bad bad threat" to analog horror, and FUCK all the mfs who make these types of videos.

Another day, another "Urbanspook is le bad!" video gets posted.
