Newbie here - needs advice

Currently working making $150K a year going into office 5 days a week. I feel I don’t really need to go in as all my work can be done from home.

Started applying and went through an interview last week and got a WFH job (1 day in office if needed). This pays $130K but is more structured and better culture (no after hours or weekends).

I’m putting in my 2 week notice as soon as my background passes. However, my current employer really depends on me.

Was thinking if I ask them perhaps I can become a consultant for them, my feeling is they will say yes as I build up a good reputation there. Plus we have lots of projects I can manage remotely.

Should I asked for PT on w-2 (asking 50% of the salary) or should I make a LLC or get 1099 and become a consultant. Wouldn’t want to tell my new job though it’s not a conflict of interest as they are not competitors. Also, should I asked for a guarantee term like 6 months or a year.

This is not guaranteed but think it will work so I wanted to be prepared.
