BS/MD vs Full Ride vs Pre-Med Schools
Hey y'all, I’d really appreciate some advice!
I’m deciding between a few options right now (grateful, but also kinda confused), and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Here are my options:
- Texas A&M Brown Scholars (full ride) + opportunity to apply to ENMED BS/MD program sophomore year
- UT Austin – Premed
- University of Florida – Full Ride + Honors Program + University Research Scholars Program
- Case Western – Pre-med with ~$40k/year merit aid
- Indiana University (Indianapolis) – Direct BS/MD program
- Tulane University – Pre-med with ~$35k/year merit aid
Some of the main things I’m concerned about:
- Security of IU’s guaranteed BS/MD vs flexibility at other schools (it's a relatively new program, so not quite sure what to expect)
- Whether it’s worth turning down a full ride at TAMU for a guaranteed program
- Strength of UF Honors/Research for pre-med (not sure how good this is?)
- Cost vs opportunities (Case/Tulane still somewhat expensive even with aid)
- Overall chances of getting into med school the traditional way from these schools
Any insight, experiences, or advice would mean a lot. Thanks so much!
