A fun contrast between FNAF and Poppy Playtime
This is just something I think is cool.
Poppy Playtime and FNAF expand their worlds in the opposite direction. FNAF has made a lot of events bigger or revealed things were happening a lot longer than implied. Meanwhile PPT goes in the opposite direction, revealing certain things were a lot briefer then originally implied.
Originally, people believed in the broad strokes of the Silver Eyes timeline. Fredbear's was a relatively small business then Henry came up with characters for Freddy's. It was a pretty normal business until the Bite and Charlotte's murder began a dark age for the company. It was also believed they only became a big business with Freddy's itself. And that a lot of the Security Breach characters were just new characters.
Secret Of The Mimic was a wrecking ball to people's belief in the lore(Albeit some of it was implied in the Tales From the pizzaplex continuity). Fazbear Entertainment was a major business years before Freddy's opened. Chica and Foxy both had their own history before they were acquired by Fazbear. And also murders involving the company were happening years before William started killing with his bare hands. Fazbear sent so many people to die at M2s hands for example, that they just started a betting game on how long the technicians will last.
Also the characters from Security Breach existed a lot longer then we thought, having been around in the 1970s.
Poppy Playtime does the opposite, what we originally had was just stuff like the company founded in the 30s making the talking 'Poppy Doll', in addition to the fact the company was doing experiments implied to be about Orphan kids. So the intial assumption was that the company was doing experiments for like, decades. Later info reveals Harley Sawyer, which grounded the experiments to be more relatively recent, then we got further clarifications.
Basically, the founder Elliot Ludwig was doing some human experimentation, but on a much smaller scale. And the Poppy Dolls were not part of that, Oliver/1006 is explicitly stated to be the first successful human-toy fusion. So the dolls are probably something but we don't know what.
The dark age of Playtime, where there was this mass industrialized suffering, only lasted about 5 to 6 years. The company at large didn't know about Elliot's work until 1989, when the Prototype's escape attempt with the boy Theodore caused a top executive, Leith Pierre to discover him and Poppy herself. At which point Leith became obsessed with replicating Elliot's work, leading to him bringing the experiments to an industrial scale.
I just think its a fun contrast between the 2.
