After nearly 9 months, I finally gave a working Boderry Landmaster Chronograph in hand. This watch was offered on Kickstarter last July along with a GMT. While the GMT used the Miyota 9075, this model features the Peacock SL4601, an ETA 7750 clone.

This is the first mechanical chronograph with tritium lume that I'm aware of. The all titanium construction was a bonus. At need than $400, I jumped in and pre-ordered one.

If the watch looks familiar, that's because it resembles the Sinn 356 Flieger. Which makes one wonder why did they call it Landmaster?

Odd name choice aside, Boderry took the Sinn tool esthetic and ran with it. Tritium tubes will glow dimly for 10 years without the need to charge. Titanium keeps weight down. The diamond crown screws down.

The case measures 38mm wide and a chunky 15.5mm tall. Tritium tubes require a lot of vertical height on top of a notoriously thick movement. It actually compares to the height of my Marathon TSAR, a quartz based three hand tritium watch. Water resistance is rated to 100 meters.

The dial has an asphalt texture with concentric rings in the sub dials. Printing is good and the numbers are applied and lumed. Capping the dial is domed sapphire without any AR coating.

There were some complaints about lume. This watch uses T25 tritium. It shines about the same as my two T100 watches, and a lot better than my T25 equipped Luminox. Tritium will always be dim. It is meant to illuminate in total darkness. Color matched lume is used at 12, 3, 6 and 9. To be blunt, that lume is awful. Green line is used in the numbers and it lasts about 15 minutes. From my experience, the tritium is pretty good. The other lume is just an added bonus.

Early models featured a stock Peacock rotor with "Boderry" milled into it. My replacement features the newer custom rotor that is a major improvement. The movement itself is well finished with pearlage throughout. Screws are blued. It looks great!

The watch comes on an H link bracelet with titanium clasp. While the lower portion is milled, there are some very rough edges as seen in the photos. There are only two holes of micro adjust on the upper pressed portion. Although the links are moved with screws, the bracelet does tend to feel a little loose and jungly. Screws were easy to extract though.

Early Kickstarter backers received several NATO straps. The only one with bead blasted hardware to match the case was the black and gray strap shown. Currently I'm using a Tropic rubber strap with blasted titanium hardware that was pieced together from Aliexpress. I still need to experiment more with straps and spring bars to get a better fit.

My watch originally arrived in late January. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the chronograph reset function and I needed to send it back. This replacement fixed several issues I had with the first one. The winding feels much smoother than the gritty wind of the first. Chrono buttons went from feeling vague and rubbery to very snappy. Regulation is better too; going from +30 on the original to +5. Nice!

While there are some minor gripes with the watch, I really enjoy it. The watch is much better than it has any right to be at this price point. I hope Boderry keeps updating this one. It's a great buy and the company stands behind their products.
