Small abscess formed around nipple - surgeon has been informed already

Looking for some advice. I found a small abscess around my nipple in a hair follicle and where a stitch once was that kept the padding on. For context I had DI with graphs and am 8 weeks post op with no complications. I noticed this spot a few weeks ago was more red, but my surgeons office said it looked fine and to do a hot compress. Today I noticed it was more inflamed and had puss in it. I know this is bad but after I washed the site and my hands I did use q tips to gently squeeze it. I washed it again afterwards and put some aquaphor on it as I normally do. I took a photo and informed my surgeon, but they are closed for the day so I am wondering if anyone has any advice. I know it's not currently "infected" because the skin around isn't red, inflamed or painful and I don't have any fevers. Does the presence of puss indicate an infection? Or could it just be irritated and trying to heal?
