A-Levels vs Access course

I'm considering taking an access course this year to get into a good university. I'm wondering if taking A-Levels is a better alternative. I already have three, just with poor grades and in the wrong subjects. It seems like unis value A-Levels more than a2he courses.

Anyone taken A-Levels as an adult?
