Trying to help someone local get to an ag summit - looking for perspective
I’ll be upfront so this doesn’t come across the wrong way.
I run a small local business and spend a lot of time working with people trying to build things from scratch around here - farms, food, small production, that kind of thing.
I came across someone working with medicinal herbs, small-batch, actually growing and making it himself. Not a polished operation, but not fake either.
He got invited to a regional ag / land-use summit. The kind of thing that can actually matter if you’re trying to build something real long term.
The issue is timing. He’s got about 6 days to figure out travel + rent at the same time. Needs around $1,500 total and doesn’t have it.
I told him I’d share it and also ask people who’ve been around this longer than I have:
Is this the kind of moment worth backing early, or is this just part of the reality check phase most people go through?
Not trying to hype it or pressure anyone. Just trying to get a read from people who understand how hard it is to get something like this off the ground in the PNW.
If anyone does want to look at what he’s doing, I can share links, but I’d rather start with the question.
