Most startup ideas fail for the same reasons — I tried to break it down
I’ve been thinking a lot about how people “validate” startup ideas.
Most advice says:
- talk to users
- build an MVP
- test quickly
But in reality, a lot of ideas still fail even after that.
So I tried something different.
I broke down idea validation into 5 concrete factors:
- problem strength
- market potential
- competition
- monetization
- execution feasibility
Then I built a simple tool that scores an idea across those.
Not to replace validation — but to quickly spot weak ideas before wasting weeks on them.
What surprised me:
Some ideas that *sound great* actually score very low once you break them down.
And some “boring” ideas turn out to be much stronger.
If you want, I can share the tool — I’m curious to see how other people’s ideas score.
