How do I make my pinned Essentials open a new tab instead?

I just want to use them as a quick shortcut to open a tab - not function as a tab itself.

..Sort of like bookmarks, I guess. (I'm using Bookmarks for way too specific saves, so I'd like to keep them separate if possible?)

Does that make any sense? :/
