unsure if I have latent TB

Hi, I apologize if this isn't the right place to post this.

I recently did a TB Quantiferon gold test before starting a new internship (routine test). However, that test ending up coming back borderline positive. My doctor seemed to be confused by this result, and ordered a repeat test. This test... also came back borderline positive, but apparently leaning more negative. After this my doctor ordered a chest x-ray and that did come back clear.

The thing that I'm confused about is that my doctor doesn't believe that I have latent TB, and hasn't given any great reason as to why both tests came back borderline positive. What I'm wondering is-- is there any reason why the tests came back positive besides latent TB? Are there any more tests that I should advocate for. And, should I get a second opinion?

In terms of possible symptoms it's a little tricky. I am chronically ill (hEDS, MCAS, hypothyroidism) and my general state of feeling is 'under the weather'. It is difficult to parse if symptoms like asthma, chest pain, or fatigue are from something new, or just flare ups from the regular.

Overall, I'm curious on what exactly should be my next steps. Thank you!
