Should San Andreas have had hidden packages?
I played 3 and Vice City as a teen when they were released. Have recently been going through the trilogy on the definitive edition and am finally getting into San Andreas, after abandoning it as a teen when I got stuck early. (In my 30s I’m doing quite well but am stuck at the driving school/Zero bit where they’re my only two map icons, along with the racing one. One driving manoeuvre I really can’t master and am not sure what I need to do to move the game on? There’s a woman in the driving school who tells me I need to gain weight but not sure if that’s linked to the story…?)
It’s fun, but I do miss the hidden packages. When I see a unique building I am so used to wandering round it for hidden packages. Driving to piers, building sites, little country towns, and not even scanning for them feels like something is missing. I know they’ve filled the void in a way with the spray painting and photos or whatever, but for me that’s overcomplicating what was one of the nice and simple aspects of the games.
