Is my lack of motivation concerning? Unsure what is going on.
I've never posted in a subreddit for mental health before, but I am really trying to understand what's going on with me. I have a lot of childhood trauma and abuse that I have worked through with a mental health provider; I've been in therapy since I was 10–11 years old and I'm turning 29 this year.
My mental health hasn't always been the best; however, I used to have no difficulty hanging out with friends or going to the gym. When I found out that I was pregnant (planned) with my first child three years ago, I noticed a shift in my mental health. I stopped doing things that I used to enjoy and kind of became a shell of myself. I got pregnant again (planned due to medical circumstances) at six months postpartum and had my second child. I enjoyed both pregnancies and postpartum experiences. Again, having two children close in age was planned due to medical circumstances.
I find myself having little to no motivation to do things that I used to enjoy. I come home from work, put my kids to bed, and want to brain rot. I know that I should be doing better things, like going on a walk around my neighborhood, doing laundry, etc., but I cannot find it in myself to do those things. I take care of myself hygiene wise, but I don't put in extra effort like using facial products because I have no motivation to do things like that.
I am on Vyvanse for ADHD, and it's helped a bit with my motivation. I'm able to work a full day and focus on tasks instead of feeling like my head is in the clouds. I just can't find the motivation to do other things like text people back, do self care, etc.
If anyone has felt this way or has any suggestions for why I may feel this way, I would really appreciate it. I'm in therapy now but am working through some of my childhood issues in my current sessions.
