Golf or Impreza

Hi! I’m 26 and live in Canada, and I’m trying to choose between a Volkswagen Golf and a Subaru Impreza hatchback. I currently drive a 2013 Golf Comfortline and I’m looking to upgrade to something around 2018–2020.

I’ve always had Golfs and I love how they look, but lately I’ve been hearing they can be more trouble. Is that actually true?

I’m mainly looking for something reliable with as few issues as possible. A friend of mine has an Impreza and keeps trying to convince me to switch.

What are the pros and cons of each?
