Cut hair too short, I feel ugly and betrayed and can’t stop crying

I asked my mother to cut my hair. It’s gotten very long, down to my butt and I wanted it trimmed since it was getting in the way a bit. Last time she cut it was pretty much exactly a year ago. Then she cut it a few centimeters below my chest and it was a great length, in that year it grew down to my butt. I asked her to cut it in small steps so in case it was crooked, it could be corrected without getting too short, I told her that multiple times. She cut it off completely just below my shoulders and when I pull it to the front it’s even shorter. It looks horrible on me, it doesn’t suit my face shape at all and I feel ugly. I told her immediately it was too short and she just laughed and said my hair was damaged and it’s better this way. I take really good care of my hair, it was not damaged and even if, I feel betrayed that she would take this decision away from me. My hair is very important to me and literally the only thing I really loved about myself. Now I don’t even have that anymore. I feel ugly and don’t even want to leave the house now. It’s been 8 hours and I haven’t stopped crying, every time I walk past a mirror I see it and I start crying again.

My bun looks laughably small, it’s too little hair for a claw clip and when I put It into a high pony it flops forward into my face. I can’t do curls or a blowout because it doesn’t suit me. And I hate my ears so a half up half down is also a no. It just hangs down now and I can’t even put it behind my back because it falls forward. It’s just a horrible length for me.

I don’t know what to do. I just feel betrayed that I trusted her with one of the most important things and she just did what she wanted. I told her that I feel ugly as it is and now she took away my only confidence and pride. And all she did was laugh in my face when I stood crying in front of her. She will not apologize, she never has in my life. I feel like I have a good point in being mad and sad but I feel like I’m only stressing myself out since I can’t change it anyway. I just can’t look at her anymore. And my brother told me that she was sad and disappointed that I got mad at her. I just want to crawl into a hole and wait for my hair to grow back.

What do I do? I don’t have a choice but get used to the short hair. I don’t want to feel ugly. At this point it’s not even about the hair, but about the breach of trust. Just how can someone do such a thing. If it was a mistake, why not just apologize.

For context: I’m an adult but still live with my family because I can’t afford to move out. So I’m stuck here.
