Am I to blame for my weed addiction
I’ve been consuming marijuana since i was 14 , Im 21 just now being able to quit. I’ve been sober for 2 months . As I think about my weed usage i cant help but think about the reason why i started in the first place.
My mom started “micro dosing” me with edibles after i got diagnosed with depression at 14. It wasn’t my choice she would just tell me to take this gummy and it would calm me down. I would only get buzzed though . She got them from the dispensary with her medical card. She would joke that she’s my “drug dealer”
At first she would give me one every night and keep the container in her room but then at 16 she just started giving me the entire pack and instructed me to take one a day. She didn’t check, so it was really easy for me to start taking a multiple. I basically had unlimited access to edibles for the most formative years of my life and was fried for most of it. She supplied it until I was half way through my freshman year of college and kinda just cut me off out of nowhere. Then I resorted to smoking ever since.
It was introduced as medicine for my depression and anxiety but I just ended up using it to self medicate for years and years. I slightly blame her because she should have probably had better supervision over how much I used but at the same time I don’t because I’m the one who abused what she gave me. Im not sure how blame I should put on myself because it wasn’t my choice to start in the first place but it was my choice to continue.
