Month four of Whoop - what am I missing?
Let me start this by saying I am a data nerd - I love recording things in my daily life and then going back and looking at the stats, or the numbers, or the trends, etc. But after four months of using my Whoop - taking advantage of all the functions - I just find it a little underwhelming/superfluous.
I feel like I am missing something - like there is something more to it that others get from it. At first, I found the insights intriguing; even just a beer or two would drop my HRV so much! I was marvelling at the way it tracked my sleep, and how lower sleep performance translated to me feeling more tired. I could go on and on about the metrics, which are great. But now, apart from having the data, I am wondering what benefit Whoop is to me. I know if I have a beer my HRV will be lower; I know if I sleep poorly I won't feel as good - I don't need the data to tell me that - I can feel it. I also know what I need to do, Whoop doesn't aid me, or guide me, in my strain/recovery/sleep - I have been training long enough and have enough experience and knowledge that it is a confirmation tool, rather than a guiding tool.
Same goes for things like the journal; I use the journal obsessively - and it is fun getting the insights. But none of the insights are surprising. I know what I need to do, and 90% of the time I do what I need to do (Whoop or not), then life gets in the way the other 10% - and Whoop just confirms that 90% is good, 10% you could work on XYZ.
So apart from the data validating how I feel, which Whoop does very well I think (and is a testament to how good a tracker it is), I don't see a personal benefit to me. Am I missing something - particularly those a year or more in? Did something change at month 6, or 12, with your interaction with Whoop and the data that I should hold out for? I don't want to give up on it if a big lightbulb moment is just around the corner?
