Is it queer baiting if I do this…?
HEY GUYS!! So I came to hop on here for a probably rather unique dilemma I’m conjuring up right now.
So the main character I’m writing for my story is male, and his endgame love interest, as of right now, is female. I’ve kept the idea for a while, and I think it’ll stay that way, but I’ve also thought of my MC having other romantic relationships happening in the story since the endgame couple is an enemies to lovers trope.
Here’s where I may be overthinking things. I have sprinkles of LGBTQ representation throughout my writing just because, and with that, I was thinking of having my MC pursue a romantic relationship with another male—but since they ultimately break up and my MC eventually gets with the FMC, I’m not exactly sure if people will take that the wrong way if I do end up including it.
I wanna preface this by saying I’m not trying to purposefully end a same sex relationship just so my MC can end up in a straight one. My MC just happens to fall in love with a man and it doesn’t work out. I myself am a bisexual woman, of course I want LGBTQ representation in my work.
Soooo, am is this queer baiting or am I just overthinking?
