toxic relative nearby, need advice

Problem/Goal: Need advice on how to deal with a toxic relative living near us who constantly spreads gossip and causes conflict in the neighborhood, affecting our family’s peace of mind.

Context: We have a tita who lives very close to our house and is known for being very chismosa and mahilig mag-escalate ng issues. Even small misunderstandings get blown out of proportion and shared with neighbors, causing embarrassment for our family.

Recently, she made a scene over an incident she didn’t fully understand and publicly talked badly about my minor sibling, loud enough for the whole area to hear. It was very humiliating and hurtful for my sibling.

Since she is a close relative and lives nearby, it feels like we don’t have much escape from the situation.

Previous Attempts: We have mostly tried to stay quiet and avoid confrontation to prevent further drama, but it doesn’t seem to stop her behavior or the gossip from spreading.
