Hiding from a student

I feel so guilty hiding from a student. Recently I had a class with a kid and he was just not a good match for me. Sweet kid but super low level and short attention span. His mom messaged after and said she wanted feedback about his english level and could I teach him regularly. I replied but hid after. I guess that she might not see the reply if I hid but I just said that a different teacher might be a better fit. I dont know why but I feel super guilty about it!
