A polite reminder on Store Policies regarding "Substantial Changes" to digital goods.
Hey everyone,
Given the recent shift in the game's economy and the understandable frustration regarding the "adjustment" of the new features, I think it's important for the community to understand their rights as consumers on mobile platforms.
When we spend months of saved currency (or actual money) based on official documentation, we are essentially entering a "contract of expectation." When that expectation is fundamentally altered immediately after the "transaction" (the spending of currency), both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store have specific guidelines in place.
The "Quality of Goods" Standard
The stores generally agree that if a digital item is fundamentally changed or "nerfed" immediately after purchase without a way to revert that purchase, the consumer has a right to an inquiry.
What you can do (safely):
Document Everything: Keep a record of the original patch notes versus the current state. This is your "Proof of Misrepresentation" if you choose to contact store support.
The Play Store/App Store "Help" Section:
Look for the section titled "Item not as described" or "Does not work as advertised." This is the official channel for reporting when a developer changes the rules of the game mid-stream.
Constructive Feedback:
The most powerful tool we have that cannot be moderated here is the official storefront review. If the game you are playing today is not the one advertised yesterday, your rating should reflect that reality for future players.
A Note on Account Integrity:
Be careful with how you handle your inquiries. Always try to resolve things through the official store support channels first. Taking "shortcut" routes with your bank can often lead to automated system flags on your game account, and nobody wants to lose their tower over a policy dispute.
Let's keep the discussion focused on the policy and the value of our time/investments.
Stay grinding (or not).
