I want to hear from students that transferred into arts out of STEM
Hi, I'm going to be making the switch most likely since I realize that this may not be for me anymore. I have an idea of what I want to do going forward (teaching) since most of my co-ops were related to that and it is the one thing that has even come close to bringing me joy. My average in arts courses (I've taken a lot) is astronomically better and I tend to make more progress. I feel like there is a sort of mental block or trauma from being in my current faculty more than my inability to complete it. I enjoy STEM on my own time and do the best with it when I'm not in a course but I've always had an easier time focusing on my arts courses and I disagree that they are somehow way easier. I know there is some shitting on the arts by stem majors and I hate it. Not looking for reassurance but some guidance on how some of you guys dealt with the subtle shade from family and friends or any other consequences of switching. Do you ever regret moving away from the "prestige" of certain STEM majors here at UW?
I guess I have made the decision but it's a rock and a hard place for me given my circumstances. I know advisors can be biased in one way or another so I would love to hear from students that did.
