A Side Effect of the 3 Tribe Obsession

Jeff/Production

I know many people here (and in the main sub) are on the same page about many of the New Era Survivor issues, i.e. too many luck based mechanics, journeys, and production's unwillingness to shake things up for the last 10 seasons. As frustrated as I am with those things, as well as Jeff's love of stealing flint and votes, I feel like I could excuse some of that if we went back to 2 tribes instead of three. At LEAST change it up every other season, right?!

One of the unintended side effects I noticed is that it has a subtle impact on player relationships in the end game. Q said in an interview that although he voted for Kenzie, if he knew all the things that had transpired during the season, then he would've given his vote to Charlie. That example may be from a controversial vote, but one thing I took away from his comment is that if there were two tribes on that season, things would've shaken up a lot differently. With three tribes, the degrees of separation increase, and your likelihood of intimately knowing someone's game is lower.

Not to mention, just from a good TV perspective it makes more sense to have two larger tribes. More people in one group means more potential for interesting conversations, more pairings for alliances, more places to hide for strong players, and more surprising blindsides.

In watching 46, not only am I tired of watching the purple tribe get beaten down week after week, but all three of the initial vote-offs were completely forecasted, so much so that Bhanu went home without them even needing to write down his name...

Do I just have a short memory here, and these issues were still present with 2 tribes? Does anyone have an alternative viewpoint that three tribes are actually better in all cases?
