I kind of want to move in with my parents
I’m 27 soon to be 28. I’ve lived alone since I was 18, and loved it. I live in a capital city (not Chicago, I’m not even in America lol) and love my place.
However, I’ve been home for two weeks being taken care of because I’ve had surgery and it’s been so nice.
I’m an only child and my mum is amazing, my dad has cancer sadly but he is doing well given the circumstances.
I used to be a huge party girl in the city, smoked weed 24/7 and drank a lot, had boyfriends and casually dated a lot.
In the past couple of years I’ve changed. It’s happened slowly but noticeably. I quit smoking weed, stopped drinking alcohol entirely because the hangovers were too brutal, and I realised this year I don’t even like going to parties anymore, it just doesn’t feel good, feels empty in a way. I have a few friends in the city but most have moved to other countries or different areas of my own country. I see everyone semi often but not heaps.
My parents live in the countryside, an hour from where I am. Their house is so cozy and nice, I have my own room here. I love their company.
I probably won’t but lately I’ve been feeling like I want to move back here again. It’s a strange feeling because I’ve been so hyper independent since I was 18, moving back in with my parents would’ve been a worst case scenario, now every time I’m here I don’t want to leave. They are older, mums over 65 and dads over 70, I know I don’t have all the time in the world with them and when I spend my days alone in the city now it just feels like I’m being away for no good reason.
Being an adult is weird. I always thought I’d stay this super independent party party party person and it’s strange to have changed.
Just venting :) thanks for reading if anyone does at all
