Did I make them mad?

I’ve been feeding the crows around my job for about two weeks now. I have shelled, raw peanuts I put out when I work. I also have oats but that’s for the cardinals in the area.

There were a couple of crows hanging around in the parking lot as I was getting in and one lingered pretty close to my car while the others stayed good distance away. I tried to park slowly but sir was insistent on staying near my car (we have assigned parking and good lord if you take someone else’s spot). I wanted to give them something but only had the oats in my car at the time. I put some out and they investigated after I left the area but didn’t seem interested.

I fed them peanuts like normal once I was able to get them from my desk. When I went to my car after work, there was quite a few bird droppings specifically on my car. The ones next to me were clean as far as I could tell.

Would feeding them the wrong food or getting too close with my car be enough to make them angry? I know they’re just birds but I’ve heard and read that they tend to poop on disliked things/people. I try to talk to them when they’re in the area while I throw out the peanuts but so far them still seem very unsure of me. I just don’t wanna make them upset and lose what little enjoyment my job offers. :(
