Headliner issue

First time poster

I have a 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera convertible (996), and the interior headliner has begun to separate along the door rail/edges. It appears the adhesive has failed—possibly after going through an automatic car wash. The separation is limited to an inch or two around the perimeter.

An installer advised that the Velcro tension straps have deteriorated and that replacing them would require removing the entire headliner, with costs approaching $1,500.

I’m considering the following options:

Re-gluing the existing headliner

Removing the headliner entirely

Replacing it with a new one

Has anyone faced this issue? What adhesive or repair method worked best, and is removal a practical temporary solution?

Thank you in advance for your advice.
