What paperwork do I actually need to drive my US/Canadian car in Mexico?

When you’re excited about crossing the border, it’s easy to assume, “I’ll figure the paperwork out later.” But having your documents sorted before you leave can save you a lot of stress on the highway. If you’re driving a US/Canadian-plated vehicle, you’ll want a valid driver’s license, your passport or passport card, and your vehicle title or registration to prove ownership. If the vehicle is financed, bring your credit agreement as well, and don’t forget your Temporary Import Permit (TIP) if you plan to go beyond the border zone or outside of Baja.
