The "Grocery Store Toy" Heartbreak.
I hated going to the grocery store as a kid. It was boring, smelled like sadness, and I never got the cereal I actually asked for. But I’ll never forget that one random aisle with the toys.
There was this one toy gun I obsessed over every week. Every time I asked if I could get it, my Mom gave me the standard response: "No, we can't afford that right now."
I didn't give up. I saved every bit of loose change I found and ran a candy-selling racket at school until I finally had the cash. I bought that gun and I was in absolute bliss... for exactly five minutes. I opened it up, played with it once, and the piece of trash split open. Springs flew somewhere, couldn't find them. Total garbage.
I started this sub so we could share unfiltered memories like this without getting Mod-banned by people who didn't grow up like us, or whose egos are larger than life.
What was the one toy you begged for that turned out to be a total letdown?
