Important context: I started taking a peptide in August 2025 called retatrutide. It is still in research phase. Honestly, I will admit I was caught up in the craze and was already prescribed a micro-dose of GLP-1 for PCOS in the past but didn’t like it or find it helpful. Retatrutide is incredibly strong and I dropped weight fast (unintentional). I do not own a scale at home and was not watching what I was eating but I did drop about 35 pounds in 4 months and am now considered underweight. I stopped taking it a month prior to this abdominal pain. If this could be in anyway related to my condition, take this as a warning because I did not do enough research before taking it and it is a research chemical after all.
Hi, this is going to be a long one but I developed severe abdominal pain last week that landed me a short hospital stay. The pain was brought on suddenly in the middle of the night right after using the bathroom. The best way I can describe it is it began right at my sternum with the hottest pressure that radiated out towards my chest and down my abdomen. I could not move for hours and developed back pain due to being doubled over. I went to the ER and was seen immediately because I didn’t know if I was having chest pain or not. The pain was unbearable, causing nausea and vomiting. I was given morphine intravenously and a CAT scan that might’ve showed some type of inflammation around my abdomen. All other organs were unremarkable. Ultimately, my family and I decided it was best to leave AMA because, due to my previous surgery, we thought it could be a potential blockage and the doctor refused to give me another CAT scan with contrast because I was “too little” (his words) and he did not want to radiate me if he didn’t think I needed it. They thought possibly fat necrosis of the omentum. They wanted to keep me overnight for observation. At the second hospital, they gave me more pain meds and immediately sent me to a CAT scan with contrast where they again saw inflammation and dark areas where it looked to be lack of blood flow. I had a sigmoidoscopy and endoscopy where they saw a bit of inflammation towards my small intestine (areas close to where resection was done). Everything else was unremarkable but they took tissue biopsies. I spent the night, and after the two doses of morphine (one at first hospital and one at second) my pain subsided and I went home to rest. I don’t have pain a week later but I do still feel like something is going on in there, my stomach feels sensitive is the best way to describe it. I have to wait until August to see specialists due to referrals and what-not and feel a bit uneasy. What caused this to happen? Pancreatitis and appendicitis were ruled out because all my organs were found to be unremarkable. I appreciate any possibilities and for taking the time to read all of this.
