Random 5 beeps on cold boot / first power-on of the day

Tech Support

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for help diagnosing a weird boot issue that started recently.

Specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X
  • Motherboard: B650 Lightning
  • RAM: 4×8 GB DDR5-6000 kit
  • BIOS: updated to the latest version

What’s happening:

  • On the first power-on after the PC has been completely off for a while, the system almost always beeps 5 times and then boots normally.
  • Once it has booted, the PC seems stable. Memtest has been running over night with no errors.

What I tried:

  • Updated BIOS to the newest version → no change
  • Reduced RAM speed step by step because I assumed it was memory instability:
    • previously stable for ~3 years at 5600 MT/s (XMP)
    • tried 5400 / 5200 / 5000
    • now even running at 4800 MT/s
  • The 5-beep issue still happens even at 4800.
  • Disabled fast boot

Context:

  • The issue started 2-3 weeks after I moved to a new place. The PC is now closer to an outside wall, but since it also happens in the afternoon (not only in the morning/cold), I’m not sure if temperature/humidity is relevant.

Is this something to be worried about?
