First-time parents in 1.5 months — what baby gear is actually worth it? And what was a total waste of money?

My partner and I are expecting our first child in about 6 weeks — a baby boy! We are so excited, but I'll be honest: I'm the type of person who tends to overbuy and end up with a ton of stuff I never needed.

So I wanted to ask the people who've been through it:

What products genuinely helped you and made life with a newborn easier?

What do you wish you had bought sooner?

And what was a complete waste of money — something you bought, used once (or never), and regret?
