Middle of the night waking
Hello all!
My now 26 month old loves to wake in the middle of the night. This has been a consistent thing since October (when I was very pregnant and she was only 20 mo old).
full disclosure - *sometimes* they’re night terrors that require intervention for safety reasons. However, 90% of the time I think it’s separation anxiety. As soon as my partner gets her and they go to the spare room, she falls asleep almost immediately.
Last week, we had 7 straight nights of good sleep (I think because we tried light training). However, this week we’re back to square one.
Has anyone been in this boat? She’s impossible to resettle once we go in the room. If she sees us, there’s no leaving again without an extended screaming period that I’m not comfortable riding out (I’d imagine it’d go an hour if we let it).
Important info: she’s still in a crib. Her sibling coming into the family did increase her separation anxiety (understandably!). We don’t do any screen time during the week.
Daily schedule;
6:30 am wake
7:30 am head to daycare
8:30 am breakfast
11:30 am lunch
12:30-2:30 nap (controlled by daycare cannot change)
3:30 pm snack
4:45 pm head home
5:30 pm dinner
6:00-7:00 pm outdoor play time
7:00-7:30 pm bedtime routine
She’s usually asleep by 7:45 pm.
Is she over tired? Under tired? How do we right this ship? Is this something we just ride out? Any advice is welcome! ❤️
