Living near traffic
Hi all,
1.5 years ago now (wow) my partner and I moved from a place in a quiet neighborhood (with kids and leaf blowers and racoon fights at night, but generally calm), to an apt facing a fairly busy street.
At first, i was surprised by how quiet it was in comparison, and the traffic noise wasnt so bad, but in the past year Ive had a noticeable decline in my health/worstening symptoms.
Recently it occured to me that all the vibrating (even more than the noise) from passing traffic, subway below, contruction, etc, plus a somewhat shaky old building... It's got to be doing a number on my body and nerves.
Studies have shown a lower quality of life and health outcomes in people living close to busy roads. I'm sensitive to vibrations, so our building shaking slightly almost constantly, but not consistently has to have an impact.
As much as I hate moving, already eager to be somewhere a bit more on the side streets, leaf blowers and all.
Have any of you moved to or away from a place near traffic, noise, and shakiness noticed a change in your symptoms after a while? Did it influence your decision to move? Wish you could get out of it but can't?
Experiences, info, theories, etc...
Stay steady!
