Misogyny
I’ve worked here for 3 years now and something I always notice is how at my store it’s always the women who are are being called up to cashier. At my store we don’t have specific roles unless you are a coord so I’ve been in all positions like cashier, jewelry, floor, backroom and markdowns but I primarily work in the back room or markdowns in the morning. As a back room or markdowns person you are the very last people who can be called up but if there are no floor associates it becomes more common. When this happens it’s always me or another female who is backup. It’s never ever the men even though we are both backroom associates. I’ve called mgmt out on this and they just say it’s because “we” are better at customer service, but that’s literally just making excuses for them and enabling them. The same goes for hanging clothes in the backroom. Is anyone else’s store like this?
