AKC Pet Insurance has skyrocket

When I got my lab six years ago, I went with Truepanion to begin with, but the prices went up substantially and I switched to AKC. Had a $500 deductible with 90% reimbursement and sure enough they paid $5000 for surgery when he swallowed something and had to be operated on. No claim since & he’s about to turn six. They just renewed my policy and it’s now at $166 a month. When I started it was under $90. I called them up and they said well yeah it’s mainly due to the age of the dog and your ZIP Code. It’s almost $2000 a year. So I’m now starting to look around for something cheaper. Any ideas?
