Am I (24F) just not compatible with my boyfriend (25M)?

Hi all. For some background, I (24F) started a new job and moved to a different country a little over a year ago now. I had a few acquaintances in the city that I moved to, but otherwise didn't really know anyone. Through my job, I've made one good friend, but other than that haven't really been able to branch out. I met my boyfriend (25M) through a work acquaintance pretty soon after I moved last spring, and we started seeing each other pretty fast, and eventually began dating. Our relationship didn't move fast, per say, but as he was one of three people I knew in the country (and I come from a large extended family and close-knit friend group) we saw each other pretty often and eventually got to the point where one of us is staying over at the other's house every night.

I love my boyfriend very much, and, for the majority of the past year we've been together, it's been amazing. Apart from some silly arguments, we've been largely unproblematic and it's been wonderful. However, for the past few months I feel that things have changed. It feels like we're always annoyed or irritated at each other. I'm constantly anxious, constantly thinking about the state of our relationship (I am not, by nature, an anxious person so this is odd), but I can never pinpoint an exact reason why I'm so stressed because I do love him very much. He's much more laisez-faire and it kind of makes me feel crazy because I'm feeling all these emotions all the time and he just... isn't.

Now, the most prevalent point of contention (there have been quite a few) has been communication. One example is that he does not like to talk about his feelings, which I try to respect and give him space, but when he's annoyed he just shuts down. However, sometimes, after I ask for the tenth time, he admits that something is wrong and finally tells me. The point here is that because sometimes there is something wrong, and he does want me to keep asking, then I never know when to ask and not to ask, and it just stresses me out endlessly, but I also feel like I might be being unreasonable.

I've tried to bring this up. Many, many times. I've asked if we can work on communication, he insists he's "great at communication". I ask gently if he can stop certain actions because they make me uncomfortable (for instance, sexualizing comments 24/7, which can be flattering sometimes but sometimes it just makes me feel like a sex object), and he only seriously considers stopping when I actually get visibly upset. Even when I feel like I've gotten through to him (albeit by crying, which I don't think should be necessary to get a point across but sometimes I just get so frustrated I start to cry), the behavior only changes for like a week before it all goes back to the way it was before. It feels like no amount of conversation can ever change anything. Additionally, he doesn't seem to think anything is wrong with our relationship, and says we're doing great and has gotten offended when I implied I'd like to work on some things, and I start to question myself immensely as to whether I'm being dramatic.

In some cases, it feels like I'm being petty. It's just a bunch of little things that are absolutely normal in a relationship, and I worry that i'm just being uptight and should loosen up more. I really do love him, and I've flip-flopped on all of this a million times, trying to just have one more conversation in the hopes that something will change but nothing ever does. The thing is, I think he's a wonderful boyfriend, and would be absolutely perfect for someone who can banter with him, who finds his antics enjoyable, who enjoys being together all the time, etc. I have tried to be that person and just relax on certian things, because I want to be with him... but I just don't think I'm that person. Is it crazy to think that we're just not compatible?
