april 24 update: new "Interest" feed surfaces real adopter / foster / transport offers that usually get buried in the comment noise
kicked off by u/Kili_Starlight flagging a real gap: urgent-dog threads routinely get 30+ comments that are a mix of "I'll adopt!" / "how do I get him?" / "I could foster for a couple weeks" / "I can drive a leg from houston to dallas" plus dozens of boosts and prayers. the real signal gets buried, OPs can't triage it all, and most adopter offers never get a reply.
so every tracked animal's page now has an Interest section that pulls the adopter-signal comments out of the noise.
"i will take him if someone can arrange transport to denver at my expense" is a π₯ high-intent adopt lead with state=CO + offers_to_pay=true qualifiers. "praying for him π" is not.
pledgehound reads each comment, filters out boost/share/pledge-only/supportive-only/OP-crosspost-templates, and tiers the rest into:
- π₯ high - concrete commitment + location or money detail, or a named rescue org offering to pull
- π‘ interested - clear first-person intent with at least one qualifier
- π’ soft - "wish I could" / hedged / conditional
across a random 500-post backfill i just ran, real adopter intent is about 2-4% of all comments. rare, but that's exactly the stuff you want to see first instead of scrolling past 30 "BOOST" replies.
cross-animal feed at pledgehound.org/interest - filter by tier, state (2-letter), subreddit, unreplied-only, etc. right now: 38 leads across 14 dogs, including 2 named rescue orgs offering to pull, 5 foster offers, and 1 transport offer. state-filtered shortcuts work too (example: /interest/tx, /interest/co) - useful for sharing region-scoped views with local rescues.
per-animal Interest section shows the same leads deduped to one entry per person, aggregated across all the crossposts of that dog - so if u/SomeAdopter commented "I'll take him" on the r/rescuedogs crosspost AND the r/AdoptableDogsTexas one, you see them once with a note saying "+ also on 2 other threads."
