How to get my First internship as a btech student (4th semester)

So im currently in my 4th sem and definitely i would be doing some internship, i have applied in some small companies and got a interview call too. But my college has set some unrealistic criterias that first we have to take permission from them to apply and so on a very long process. Like they think we would be selected just by applying. They won't let us do internship by our choice, but they also made it mandatory to do internship by the end of 2nd Year to get the Industrial Training credit in Next semesters. Im so confused where should i apply what to do ( I'm a python developer ). So anyone who had faced this thing in college please let me know how you handled it.
