Alternative Shapes /B units

Didnt see this covered yet but I was wondering if anyone has seen huge changes between using the B units for donations? I made the first shape but it cant go anywhere. I think I misunderstood the mechanics as it appears i have to generate it in the research station but im not 100% on that. so I havent gotten to see if the diffefence is noticeable, and wont till I can get off work lol
