Switched from eero 6 to Ubiquiti and now Airplay keeps disconnecting...
Hey All - I've had eeros at home for years without issues, but decided to switch to Ubiquiti in order to have a little more granular control.
I went from two eero 6 devices (one upstairs and one downstairs) with a dumb switch downstairs to a UDM7 with a USW Flex 2.5 PoE and U7 Pro Max AP.
Since the switch, the major issue we've had is that Airplay from our iPhones to our latest-gen Apple TV has become reliably unreliable.
As an example, we can always connect to the Apple TV, but Airplay (display mirroring) will randomly disconnect between 5 and 10 seconds after the connection. This happens 100% of the time. There are no errors logged anywhere that I can find, it just disconnects.
Nothing else has changed - it's the same iPhones (same problem with all three in my household) and the same Apple TV. The AppleTV is plugged in via Ethernet to the switch and the iPhones are connecting via WiFi. I don't have any VLANs or anything like that, just one big network.
I thought it might be related to the iPhones roaming from one AP to another but even when I lock an iPhone to a specific AP, we have the problem.
If I swap out the Ubiquiti stuff back for the eero devices, the problem goes away. So I'm pretty darn sure it's something with the Ubiquiti stuff.
I've run out of ideas to troubleshoot and my family is starting to get grumpy with me as we use Airplay quite a bit.
I wanted to use the Unifi stuff and eventually add cameras and door controls, but if I can't get this working, I will need to give up on that dream.
Does anyone have any ideas?
